Hello everyone
It is with joy that I write this email to you. The journey has been great with its own challenges of course but we have overcame them because of determination, willingness to learn and hardwork.
I learned a lot since my arrival here concerning the operations and management of the kitchen at large because last month where I was doing my practicals at Golden Bee kitchen when Chef Adam was away I used to assume responsibility of making sure that the service runs smoothly, receive the stock and pack it appropriately at the required temperatures. I was even nominated for an employee of the month for November, though I didn’t win the coveted prize I got a consolation prize of 25$US gift card to spend at the Broadmoor Hotel.
This month I was rotated to a new kitchen whereby a lot is expected of me because of my credentials and so far I’m doing a good job because a lot is expected from me, the staff like my work ethics. Outside of work there’s an organisation that takes care of International students by the name of ISI(International Students Inc) once a month we gather together and have dinner at one of the members house whereby we engage in Topics of paramount importance, there’s also a Bible discussion and I was asked to lead it two months in a row, it meant a lot for me to be afforded that opportunity.
When I’m of I normally go for Shopping or visit the parks and making new friends, and I make sure that I promote South Africa in order for people to understand how it looks like so that one day they can be our Tourists, because a lot of people here they still think that South Africa is deserted place with no development at all.
Lastly the weather is too cold and snowing at times, I find it challenging to acclimatise particularly when it’s snowing but I’m getting there slowly. Allow me to convey my sincere gratitude for your countless efforts of granting me this opportunity of a lifetime of living my dream.
Have a Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year together with your loved one’s.
Regards
Nelson Makgakoa
