Awesome Travel has identified an active impersonation and fraud scam in which individuals are unlawfully posing as Awesome Travel to deceive members of the public into paying money for services that do not exist.

The impersonators are illegally using our intellectual property, including our logo, branding, and copied social media content, to appear legitimate.

⚠️ HOW THE SCAM WORKS

The scammer may:

  • Contact people via WhatsApp or Facebook groups (including a group called “Group 1 as we take off Abroad”)
  • Offer J-1 visa advice or overseas work opportunities
  • Conduct fake interviews where:
    • The “employer” does not show their face
    • Interviews are audio-only
  • Send fake U.S. job offer letters
  • Request payment for placements, interviews, or “processing”

  • Conduct audio-only interviews
  • Allow U.S. employers to interview without video or in-person presence
  • Use Gmail accounts for U.S. employers
  • Operate only via WhatsApp text with no voice or video calls
  • Recruit through WhatsApp or Facebook groups

All payments (when applicable) are made only to our official Nedbank account.
