On this Work Exchange visa you have the freedom to work anywhere in New Zealand and take up any job! Participants find work mainly in restaurants, bars, offices, retail and ski resorts. Participants are also able to secure career-related temporary / intern positions.

Work Exchange New Zealand provides you with everything you’ll need whilst on a working and traveling in New Zealand. The program includes help with banking and tax, as well as travel and socials. But most importantly our New Zealand partners can provide you with unlimited job hunting resources and support for the entire time you’re in NZ.

  1. You must be between the ages of 20-30.
  2. Currently studying or a recent graduate – tertiary level.
  3. Recent or current work experience within field of study.
  4. Must be friendly, outgoing, engaging, positive professional with a strong work ethic.
  5. Must be able to commit to minimum 6 months working in New Zealand.
  6. Must hold a South African passport.
  7. Provide a clear police clearance certificate.

When do applications open?
Applications are open all year round until the visa quota for the year runs out.

How long can I work in NZ?
The visa allows one to work for up to 12 months.

Can I apply for this visa again?
Regrettably one can only apply for this visa once.

How easy is it to find work?
We only source job placements for applicants that have specialized within the field of Hospitality. If you have specialized in a different field we will consider your application based on your education as well as the amount of work experience that you have. All candidates we have sent without a job have sourced a job within a few weeks upon arrival. Employers are used to foreigners showing up and looking for work.

What is the time difference between South Africa and NZ?
Depending on the time of the year New Zealand is 10/11 hours ahead of South Africa.
