There is a great demand for Au Pairs who have more than 200 hours of experience caring for children under 2 years of age.
If you have experience caring for children that are not in your immediate family—or can get that experience before applying for the program—you can often receive a higher weekly stipend if placed with a family that has a child under 2. You may also be placed faster and have more choices in matching with a host family .
While an Au Pair's first priority is to provide childcare for the host family's children, Au Pairs have plenty of free time to make the most of their time in the U.S. Au Pairs participate in monthly meetings and activities planned with other Au Pairs in their community.
Au Pairs also receive a $500 credit for taking educational classes at local schools. Active involvement in the educational component of the program offers Au Pairs a wonderful opportunity to meet many young people from around the world and pursue their academic or career related goals at the same time.
