Can I travel to other countries during my programme?
You may travel outside your host country whilst on a programme, provided you have a multiple entry visa, are in good standing with the programme and can obtain a visa for the country you wish to visit. On the Work USA program you will need the section approving travel on your DS-2019 signed by our US partner Interexchange.

Is the insurance compulsory?
Yes, for the full duration of your travelling outside South Africa.

What does my travel insurance cover?
It is not a medical aid and as such covers only emergency medical expenses. Policy wording available upon request.

What is a DS-2019 form?
The DS-2019 form is the document that you receive from our US partner and is needed to apply for your J-1 visa. Without this form you cannot apply for the J-1 visa.

What is the J-1 Work visa?
It is a visa issued by the US Consulate in South Africa after successfully completing your interview at the Consulate. It allows you to visit the US, as a cultural exchange student and have paid employment for no more than 3-18 months depending on the programme.

What guarantees are there that I will obtain my visa?
There are no guarantees as the final decision lies at the Consulates discretion however Awesome Travel will assist you with your application and provide you with the necessary information to apply for your visa.
